Hi, I'm John Cecca Jr storyteller, sci-fi dreamer, songwriter, and grandpa with a pen.
I write adventure stories for children in grades 4-6, filled with rich vocabulary, science, real world facts, and plenty of heart.
Each book includes a glossary and discussion points to help readers dive deeper. From braving a fierce nor'easter in The Blizzard's Ocean Roar, to escaping a July 3rd brushfire in The Brushfire's Embers Waves of Flames, or unraveling Halloween mischief in T'Ernolan's Tricky Treat, my goal is to keep readers turning pages while thinking and learning along the way.
A Bit Deeper
I also explore other genres, including the speculative sci-fi romance Orion's Soulmates, and several poetry collections like Byron Corner-crosswalks and crossroads (part philosophical, part confessional), Misfortune Cookies (a book of haiku), and Autobiographica-Poetica-lol.
When I'm not writing, I'm usually enjoying the company of my grandchildren-and growing old with them.
Songwriting Passion
Songwriting has become a natural companion to my poetry. Both begin with the same spark—a thought, a memory, an emotion, or a question waiting to be explored. While poetry allows ideas to stand quietly on their own, songwriting invites those same words to find a melody, a rhythm, and ultimately a voice. Whether I'm writing a poem, crafting lyrics for a contemporary country ballad, or creating an instrumental journey, my goal remains the same: to tell honest stories that connect with people, stir the imagination, and leave something meaningful behind.
